Our Team

Denis began his Insurance career with MBC Insurance in 1983, and qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1990. In 1996, Denis was appointed Director of the company and 10 years later became Managing Director. In 2007, Denis oversaw the launch of MBC Financial Ltd.

Des has over 24 years in insurance, starting in 1988. He joined MBC in 1999 and became Managing Director in 2020. A Certified Insurance Practitioner, he’s a former President of the Insurance Institute of Cork and founding member of the Broker Federation of Ireland, where he still serves on the board.

Shane began his career in 1990 as a Commercial Underwriter and became a Business Development Manager in 1997. He joined MBC as a Director in 2002, leading the integration of Lordan Magnier Insurance. Today, he manages key accounts, supports Sub Agents nationwide, and oversees the Craft Brewers and Forklift Hire insurance schemes.

Brían McMahon began his insurance career with MBC in 2006 and is now a Director, overseeing New Business Sales and Product Development. A University of Limerick graduate and Certified Insurance Practitioner, he specialises in Technology, Construction, and Equipment Hire insurance. He launched Techinsure.ie and Tool Hire Protector, and played a key role in opening MBC’s Kerry office in 2017. Brían is a former President of the Insurance Institute of Cork and remains active on its council.

Deirdre has over 10 years’ insurance experience, starting in 2003 with Glennon Insurance in Dublin, then AON in Limerick, before joining MBC in 2010. Now a Commercial Account Executive, she manages her own portfolio specialising in Property, Liability, Tradesman, Motor Fleet, and Tech Insurance. A Certified Insurance Practitioner, she has been based in the Kerry office since 2017.

David joined MBC Insurance in 2015 as a Personal Lines Executive and became a Commercial Account Executive in 2016. He now manages his own portfolio, specialising in Property, Liability, Tradesman, Motor Fleet, and Tech Insurance. He holds an MBS and BComm from UCC, is a Certified Insurance Practitioner, and is working towards his ACII.

John joined MBC Insurance in 2013 and is now an Associate Director. He holds degrees in Quantity Surveying and Risk Management & Insurance, and manages a portfolio covering Business, Property, Liability, PI, Motor Fleet, Tradesman, and Farm Insurance. A Certified Insurance Practitioner, he also leads New Business and Product Development and helped launch the Kerry office in 2017.

Daria commenced her career with MBC Insurance in 2010 as a part of the Accounts Department. She currently handles all insurer settlements and queries. She is currently working toward her ATI qualification.

Sinéad joined MBC in 2014 after graduating with an Honours Business degree from Cork Institute of Technology. Starting in Personal Lines, she became a Commercial Account Executive in 2016 and now manages her own portfolio, specialising in Property, Liability, Fleet, and Professional Indemnity. She is a Certified Insurance Practitioner.

Anne has been working in the insurance business in Cork for numerous years in various roles from General Insurance to Health Insurance. Anne has recently joined MBC Insurance as Commercial Account Executive working alongside company Director Desmond Murphy. She is APA qualified in Personal Insurance and is working towards Certificate Insurance Practitioner (CIP).

Caitrín joined the MBC Insurance team in 2018, and is specialising in Commercial & Personal lines, particularly business, commercial property, fleet, construction liability, home and motor insurance. Caitrin spent over three years in the motor trade after qualifying from University College Galway in 2014 with a BA, Bachelor of Arts. Caitrín holds an APA Financial Qualification and is also Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) and Approved Product Provider (APA) qualified.

Rose O’Mahony holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UCC and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. She has also completed a Certificate in Risk Management and a Diploma in Internal Audit. Rose has extensive experience in SMEs, Financial Services and Multinationals, in both the Public and Private Sectors. Rose joined MBC Insurance in July 2019 as Finance Manager.

Noreen recently graduated from Pitman Training Kerry after completing a Secretarial Diploma. She has previously worked in Retail for 4 years before deciding on a career change. She joined the Kerry team in September 2019 and works in our Motor & Home Insurance team. Noreen is Approved Product Provider (APA) qualified.

Jake joined the Kerry Team of MBC Insurance in July 2021. He is working on our personal lines team, in particular household and motor. Jake holds a BSc honours degree in Accountancy from University College Cork. He is also Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) qualified.

Mark is a Commercial Account Executive specialising in Cyber & Technology Insurance and leads Techinsure.ie, part of MBC Insurance and the Clear Group. A Certified Insurance Practitioner, he joined the Insurance Institute of Cork Council in 2023 and now serves as Sports and Social Officer. He recently earned a Liability Specialist Micro-Credential and is working towards his Management Diploma in Insurance, due in summer 2025.

James qualified from CIT (Munster Technical University) in 2008 with Level 8 Honours Degree in Business. He began working in Insurance in 2009 with AXA, primarily in personal lines, but progressed to SME and Farm Business. He was proactively involved in driving business development within the Southern Region across those classes of business. He is a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) having completed his qualification in 2015. James joined the Business Insurance Team at MBC Insurance in 2022.

Sandy has over 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry. She began her career as a Personal Lines Underwriter with Hibernian Insurance in 1997. Sandy gained invaluable experience during her career with Hibernian Insurance, working in different areas of the business before being appointed to a Team Leader of the Broker Service Centre in 2002. She joined O’Leary Insurances in 2016 as a Personal Lines Executive and Claims Handler. Sandy has an APA Qualification in Personal General and Commercial General Insurance.

Andrew graduated from University College Cork in 2018 with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. He previously spent 3 years working in the Financial Services industry before joining MBC Insurance in March 2022. Andrew is a qualified Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP). He begun working on our personal lines team, in particular household and motor insurance. In mid 2024 he moved to our Commercial Business Team.

Rebekah recently joined the MBC team as a Personal Lines Executive after working as a medical administrator for a number of years before deciding on a career change. Rebekah is currently working with the Motor & Home insurance team and will be soon commencing her exams.

Shannon began her career in insurance in 2022 working for Aviva within the Personal Lines team. She recently joined MBC Insurance in February 2024 as a Personal Lines Executive, specialising in Motor & Home Insurance. Shannon is working towards completing her Accredited Product Advisor (APA) exams.

Tara joined the MBC Insurance team in Cork in October 2024 after recently graduating from University College Cork. She is working with the Personal Lines Team specialising in motor and home insurance. Tara is working towards completing her insurance exams.
