A Certified Insurance Practitioner, he’s a former President of the Insurance Institute of Cork and founding member of the Broker Federation of Ireland, where he still serves on the board

Brian McMahon is Chief Operating Officer of Clear Insurance Ireland and a highly experienced insurance professional with a career spanning nearly two decades. Having joined MBC Insurance in 2006, he has held a variety of roles across new business development, product innovation, commercial broking, and operational leadership, helping to shape the growth and evolution of the business. A graduate of the University of Limerick and a Certified Insurance Practitioner, Brian has developed particular expertise in the technology, construction, and equipment hire sectors. He was instrumental in the creation of specialist insurance solutions including TechInsure.ie and Tool Hire Protector, and played a key role in the establishment of the company's Kerry office in 2017. A former President of the Insurance Institute of Cork, Brian combines technical insurance knowledge with strategic leadership and a passion for innovation. As COO, he is focused on driving operational excellence, supporting sustainable growth, and enhancing both client and colleague experiences through continuous improvement and technology-enabled transformation.

Shane began his career in 1990 as a Commercial Underwriter and became a Business Development Manager in 1997. He joined MBC as a Director in 2002, leading the integration of Lordan Magnier Insurance. Today, he manages key accounts, supports sub agents nationwide, and oversees the craft brewers and forklift hire insurance schemes.

Philip has extensive experience in the insurance industry, having begun his career in 1988 with international broker Bain Clarkson (now Coyle Hamilton Willis), where he worked as a broker. He subsequently spent five years with Alan Tierney and Partners before progressing to the role of International Network Manager with leading global insurance broker Willis Corroon. This breadth of national and international experience laid the foundation for establishing Phelan Caswell Insurances and continues to underpin his leadership within Clear Insurance Ireland today.

Rossa is a highly respected insurance and risk adviser with over 25 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector. He provides specialist advice on contract reviews, claims analysis, lenders’ insurance reviews, and complex international insurance programmes across construction, funds, aviation, and other sectors. A recognised industry expert, he regularly presents at major events and delivers tailored client workshops. Involved from the earliest project stages, he supports contract negotiations, guides claims strategy, and helps clients achieve stronger commercial and risk outcomes.

Denis began his insurance career with MBC Insurance in 1983, and qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1990. In 1996, Denis was appointed Director of MBC Insurance and 10 years later became Managing Director. In 2007, Denis oversaw the launch of MBC Financial Ltd. Denis now serves a Compliance Consultant within the business.

Andrew graduated from University College Cork in 2018 with an Honours degree. He previously spent 3 years working in the Financial Services industry before joining MBC Insurance in March 2022. Andrew is a Certified Insurance Practitioner. He began working in our personal lines team. In mid 2024, he moved to the commercial business team.

Anne has been working in the insurance business in Cork for numerous years in a variety of roles from general insurance to health insurance. Anne joined MBC Insurance as Commercial Account Executive working alongside Des. She is APA qualified in personal insurance and is working towards Certificate Insurance Practitioner.

Caitrín joined the company in 2018. She specialises in commercial insurance, with expertise across the construction, manufacturing, and life sciences sectors. She graduated from University College Galway in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Before entering the insurance industry, Caitrín spent over three years in the motor trade, gaining valuable industry insight. Caitrín holds a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) designation and is currently working towards her MDI qualification. Known for her strong attention to detail, Caitrín ensures every solution is carefully tailored to meet the unique needs of each client and their industry.

Daria commenced her career with MBC Insurance in 2010 as a part of the accounts department. She currently handles all insurer settlements and queries. She is actively working toward her ATI qualification.

David joined Clear Insurance Ireland in 2015 as a Personal Lines Executive and moved to a Commercial Account Executive role in 2016. He now manages his own portfolio, specialising in commercial property, liability, tradesman, motor fleet, professional indemnity, cyber and tech insurance. He holds an MBS and BComm from UCC, CIP and MDI from the Insurance Institute of Ireland, QFA through the LIA and he's working towards his ACII.

Deirdre's insurance career began with Glennon Insurance, Dublin in 2003, then AON in Limerick, before joining MBC in 2010. Now a Commercial Account Executive, she manages her own portfolio specialising in property, liability, tradesman, motor fleet and tech insurance. A Certified Insurance Practitioner, she has been based in the Kerry office since 2017.

Donncha brings over 17 years of experience in the insurance industry, underpinned by a strong foundation in risk management and health & safety. Since beginning his career in 2009, he has built a reputation for delivering clear, practical advice and maintaining a truly client-first approach. In 2025, Donncha joined Clear Insurance Ireland, part of the Clear Group, where he continues to support businesses in protecting what matters most. His specialist expertise spans the hospitality, retail, care, and construction sectors, giving him a deep understanding of the unique risks and challenges faced by each.

Jake holds a BSc Honours degree in Accountancy from University College Cork and began his career in the insurance industry in 2021. After gaining experience in personal insurance, he transitioned into commercial insurance, where he now specialises in advising businesses across a broad range of sectors, with particular experience in manufacturing, liability, property, professional services, retail, hospitality and technology. Jake holds the Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) designation and is currently working towards his Management Diploma in Insurance (MDI) qualification. Jake is committed to providing a proactive and responsive service, taking the time to understand each client’s business, operations and individual risk exposures. He combines this with strong insurer relationships and a thorough understanding of the commercial insurance market to negotiate appropriate cover and competitive terms. His practical, client-focused approach helps businesses navigate their insurance requirements with confidence as they develop and grow.

James began his career in the insurance industry in 2009 with AXA Insurance primarily in Personal Lines before progressing into SME and Farm Business, including business development across the Southern Region. A Certified Insurance Practioner, James joined Clear Insurance Ireland in the summer of 2022 as Commercial Account Executive where he is responsible for building and managing his own portfolio across the SME sector. In 2026 he was promoted to Commercial Team lead and is the Irish Lead for Clear Insurance within Euribron, a leading international network of brokers supporting multinational clients.

John began his insurance career in 2013 with MBC Insurance. He was appointed Associate Director in 2021 and promotes new business initiatives and development. A Certified Insurance Practitioner, he has master’s degrees in risk management and insurance, and quantity surveying. In 2017, he played a key role in opening the Kerry office & is now responsible for managing this office as Regional Head of Broking Operations.

Mark joined Clear Insurance Ireland in 2021 and specialises in Cyber and Technology Insurance, leading Techinsure.ie. His expertise also spans manufacturing, construction, hospitality, life sciences and professional indemnity. Mark completed the Management Diploma in Insurance (MDI) in 2025. In addition to his professional role, Mark serves as Sports and Social Officer for the Insurance Institute of Cork Council.

Nora joined the Kerry office in September 2025 after graduating from University of Galway with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. She's currently working in the commercial lines team. Nora is working towards completing her insurance exams.

Noreen recently graduated from Pitman Training, Kerry after completing a Secretarial Diploma. She previously worked in retail for 4 years before deciding on a career change. She joined the Kerry team in September 2019 and works in our motor and home insurance team. Noreen is Approved Product Provider qualified.

Patrick joined Clear Insurance Ireland in June 2025, bringing over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Patrick has specialised in Personal Lines insurance throughout his career, specifically home, motor, and high-value property cover. He's a past winner of the Brokers Ireland Broker Achievement Award.

Rebekah joined the Clear team bringing 17 years of customer service and administrative experience. After working as a medical administrator for a number of years, she chose to pursue a new direction in the insurance industry. Rebekah now works within the Personal Lines Department and has recently qualified as an APA Product Advisor specialising in motor and home insurance.

Rose O’Mahony holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UCC and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. She has also completed a Certificate in Risk Management and a Diploma in Internal Audit. Rose has extensive experience in SMEs, financial services and multinationals, in both the public and private sectors. Rose joined MBC Insurance in July 2019 as Finance Manager.

Sinéad joined MBC in 2014 after graduating with an honours business degree from Cork Institute of Technology. Starting in personal lines, she became a Commercial Account Executive in 2016 and now manages her own portfolio, specialising in property, liability, fleet and professional indemnity. She is a Certified Insurance Practitioner.

Fiona Gill joined Phelan Caswell in October 2000 following completion of a Business Studies degree. Initially appointed as PA to Mark Phelan, she progressed to Claims Manager and assumed responsibility for leading the firm’s Claims Department, with particular oversight of large commercial portfolios. Fiona serves as Office Manager at Clear Insurance Irelands Dublin office overseeing the effective day-to-day operations of the business.

Mark was Managing Director and co-founder of Phelan Caswell Insurances (1998). He led the firm’s strategic direction, ensuring the delivery of tailored insurance and financial planning solutions grounded in expertise and integrity. Previously Deputy MD of Willis Ireland, he advised corporates on multinational and alternative risk programmes. His career included a directorship at Alan Tierney & Partners and earlier experience with Aon Group

Rebecca began her career in the insurance industry in 2023 after graduating from Maynooth. Rebecca holds a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) designation and has experience in Personal Lines and Commercial Lines, previously working with Gallagher formally First Ireland. In June 2026, Rebecca joined the Dublin office as part of our Commercial Lines team.

Patrick served as a Financial Advisor with Phelan Caswell Insurances, supporting individuals and families in achieving their financial objectives. A Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) and Retirement Planning Professional (RPP), he brought four years’ experience in protection planning, investment strategy and retirement solutions. He adopted a comprehensive, client-focused approach, developing tailored financial plans designed to deliver long-term security and sustainable growth.

Anna joined Phelan Caswell Insurance in February 2024, bringing broad experience from roles outside the insurance sector. She managed day-to-day accounting operations, including client cash receipts, bank reconciliations and journal postings for management accounts. Her strong analytical skills and attention to detail ensured accurate reporting, regulatory compliance and the efficient management of the firm’s financial processes.

Conor joined Phelan Caswell Insurance in February 2024, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. In September, he commenced the Insurance Apprenticeship Programme, further developing his expertise within the industry. With a strong analytical foundation and commitment to professional development, he was well positioned to contribute meaningfully to the firm and support its continued success.

Fiona started in the insurance industry in 1991. After several years with an insurance company, she moved to broking in 1999 joining Phelan Caswell Insurances in July 2003. Initially focused on personal lines, she transitioned to commercial insurance in 2008, developing extensive experience across the SME sector and larger corporate risks.

Davina joined Phelan Caswell Insurances in 2023. Davina has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector and is a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA). She transitioned to Broking in 2019 after 18 years with Irish Life. Committed to delivering exceptional client service, she plays an integral role within the financial planning team.

John was Director of EBIB Insurances, where he played a central role in delivering specialist insurance solutions to Ireland’s horse racing and equestrian sectors. He helped guide the firm’s development as a niche provider known for its deep industry knowledge and client-focused approach. Following the acquisition by Phelan Caswell Insurances, he supported the transition while maintaining continuity of service and strengthening relationships across the equine community.

Eoin has over 37 years’ experience in the insurance industry, beginning with Frank Glennon Ltd and later spending 20 years with Willis Ireland (formerly Coyle Hamilton), where he held a Director role. He then spent 15 years with Crotty Insurance Brokers as Director & CEO, leading its growth and eventual sale to GRP/Brown & Brown. Eoin joined The Clear Group in 2026. A specialist in renewable energy and complex insurance programmes, he advises across construction, hospitality, funds, and international projects, while also speaking at industry events and supporting clients from contract negotiation through to claims management.

Alan has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, beginning his career with Coyle Hamilton in 2003. He has since held roles with leading international brokers including Gallagher, WTW and Brown & Brown. Alan also has seven years’ experience in Sydney, working within the Australasia market, including two years in underwriting with an Australian insurer. He joined The Clear Group at the end of 2025 and contributes to the development of its growth strategy.

David Owens began his insurance career with Allianz in 2014 as a Commercial Underwriter before joining Crotty Insurance in 2019, where he spent six years developing expertise in renewable energy accounts alongside Eoin Greene. He is now a Commercial Account Executive at Clear Insurance Ireland, specialising in tailored insurance solutions for clients. With strengths in account management, business development, and strategy, David brings a commercial and client-focused approach to his role. He holds a CIP qualification and an Honours Degree in Business & Psychology from Dublin Business School.

Christian had been working in a retail management for over 15 years. A change of direction brought him to the insurance industry where he obtained his CIP qualification and now has 11 years’ experience in the personal lines sector, focusing specifically on cars, vans & houses, He joined Clear Insurance Ireland in Jan 2026 working in our Kerry office.

Joyce joined the Kerry office of Clear Insurance Ireland in March 2026. She began her insurance career with Frost Insurances in Limerick in 2007 before relocating to Australia, where she spent 15 years working within the Australian insurance industry. Joyce is currently a member of the Commercial Lines team and is working towards achieving the Certified Insurance Practitioner designation. (CIP)

Jack graduated from UCC in 2017 with a Finance degree before joining KPMG Ireland’s Graduate Programme. He spent nearly six years with KPMG working across taxation and consultancy while completing his professional exams in both accountancy and tax. Jack became a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Irish Tax Institute in 2021.

Alana began her career in the insurance industry in 2022 after graduating from the University of Limerick with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History. She is CIP qualified and has over three years of experience in Personal Lines, previously working with McCarthy Insurance Group and Gallagher. In 2026, Alana joined the Kerry office as part of our Personal Lines team.

Donna joined Phelan Caswell Insurances in September 2006 as a Client Service Executive. Prior to this she worked in Coyle Hamilton for 7 years beginning as a Personal Lines Broker and progressing to a commercial role in the small business unit and in this time obtaining a Diploma of Insurance Practice. She specialises as a Senior Client Service Executive working with Company Directors & Account Executives on varying levels and types of large commercial and corporate accounts.

Olivia joined the Waterford branch of Clear insurance Ireland in April 2026, bringing over 20 years of experience in both the financial services sector and general insurance industry. She is both QFA and APA qualified. She is committed to delivering exceptional client service and is working towards her CIP qualifications to further develop her expertise within the industry.

Fiona joined the Waterford office of Clear Insurance Ireland in April 2026. Following many years of working in banking sector, In 2018 she pursued a new direction in the insurance industry where she is working as a member of the commercial lines team. Fiona is a qualified QFA (Qualified Financial Advisor) and has the APA qualification in both general & commercial insurance. She is currently working towards completing her CIP qualification.

Justyna Joined Clear Insurance Ireland in April 2026. She joins with 3 years’ experience in Insurer reconciliations. She will handle insurer reconciliations and supplier invoices and payments. Justyna holds a Diploma in Accounting.

Aaron holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Insurance, having completed the ATU Insurance apprenticeship. With over eight years’ experience in the insurance industry, Aaron has held roles with Marsh, Lockton and Brown & Brown, working with a wide range of commercial clients as both account handler and account manager. As a client executive, Aaron is focused on building strong client relationships and delivering tailored insurance solutions to business.

Francesca joined Clear Insurance in September 2026, bringing eight years of experience in customer-facing roles across a range of industry sectors. Her background spans B2B, B2C and partner environments, including four years working with international business clients. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Francesca joins Clear as an Insurance Apprentice, bringing valuable experience in client relationship management and customer service.

Darragh joined Clear Insurance Ireland in 2026, bringing more than four years’ experience in commercial insurance broking. Prior to joining Clear, he managed a varied portfolio of commercial clients and developed broad experience across a wide range of insurance policies and client requirements. He has also gained international insurance experience through previous roles in New Zealand and Australia. Darragh is a Certified Insurance Practitioner and is committed to providing clear, practical advice and building strong, lasting client relationships.

Jonathan Keating is a Commercial Account Executive with a strong background in hospitality management. Prior to joining the insurance industry, he worked as a General Manager, developing expertise in client relationships, team leadership, business development, and customer service. Drawing on his people-focused approach and commercial experience, Jonathan is committed to understanding his clients' businesses, building trusted relationships, and providing professional insurance and risk management support to help businesses protect what matters most.
